Plant Mechanic incumbents independently perform skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work on a wide range of equipment and systems, including pumps, motors, valves, compressors, piping, and other machinery used in water treatment and distribution facilities.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate has experience with a proven track record of success that demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:
Performing skilled mechanical installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair work on a wide variety of equipment typical to a water treatment plant and distribution system.
Observation of safe work methods and safety precautions typical to water treatment plant materials, tools and equipment.
Agility, strength and endurance to install, diagnose, repair and maintain a wide variety of mechanical equipment and operate various hand, power and shop tools.
Working in a variety of conditions, including in exposure to potentially hazardous materials, in confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in skilled mechanical maintenance repair work in a water or wastewater treatment or industrial setting. Completion of an apprenticeship in a related field, such as machinist, electrician or electronics technician, may be substituted for not more than one year of the required experience.
Zone 7 Water Agency supplies treated drinking water to retailers serving approximately 260,000 residents and businesses in Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and, through special agreement with the Dublin San Ramon Services District, the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon. Zone 7 also supplies untreated irrigation water (mostly to vineyards) and provides flood protection to eastern Alameda County.
