Founded in 1959, Fort Collins Country Club is a private, member-owned club with an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Henry Hughes. Situated between two reservoirs on the northeast side of Fort Collins, the classic style golf course has tremendous views of the surrounding foothills and Rocky Mountains. FCCC regularly hosts USGA qualifiers and is home to Colorado State University’s Ram Masters Invitational every fall. The Club has recently commissioned Fry/Straka Global Golf Design for the development of a golf course Master Plan. Improvements on the horizon include, but are not limited to, a new irrigation system, bunker renovation, greens and tee reconstruction, a putting course and possibly a new par 3 course. There are exciting times ahead for the Fort Collins Country Club and its agronomy team!
The Irrigation Technician will report directly to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent and the Golf Course Superintendent. The primary responsibility for this position is the operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. This person will be looking to further their career in the golf business and must have a strong work ethic and positive attitude with the ability to problem solve on the fly.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Maintains golf course irrigation system’s pipes (pvc and poly), heads, satellites, and valves.
Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical problems involving sprinkler heads, electric valves, and satellites.
Keeps inventory of all irrigation parts, fittings, supplies, and tools.
Maintains clean and organized workspace, cart, and parts room.
Assists AGCS with programming and operation of central irrigation computer system.
Conducts winterization and startup of irrigation system.
Hand watering hot spot during summer months.
Assists AGCS with pump maintenance and record keeping.
Supervises additional irrigation installation and drainage projects.
Applies preventive maintenance programs to maximize irrigation efficiency.
Communicates with AGCS and GCS with irregularities in turf qualities.
Assists in daily operation of golf course equipment and all necessary maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Requires valid driver’s license.
Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulics related to irrigation systems including values, satellites, and pumps.
Knowledge of Toro golf irrigation systems 700 and 800 series heads, Network 8000 satellites, and Toro SitePro is a plus.
Ability to operate light and heavy turf & construction equipment.
Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials related to irrigation systems.
Player/student of the game of golf with sound understanding of providing ideal playing conditions.
Self-starter with strong work ethic.
Strong observation skills and detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills.
