Hiring Salary: $27.00 - $28.00/Hourly

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Plumber installs, maintains, and operates plumbing systems throughout campus facilities and provides leadership, guidance and training to lower ranked personnel. This position is also responsible for record keeping on either paper or web based.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

2. Interprets blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.

3. Installs, repairs, and replaces plumbing fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, air, and vacuum. Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.

4. Assembles pipe fittings and valves for installation.

5. Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building.

6. Uses saws, pipe cutters, and other necessary tools for projects.

7. Coordinates with other trades and contractors as necessary.

8. Tests plumbing systems and performs preventive maintenance for leaks and other problems. Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.

9. Chooses plumbing materials based on location and intended uses of building

10. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

11. Documents the problem and summary of actions taken.

12. Directs outside contractor plumber and other personnel concerning projects or plumbing issues.

13. Performs other related duties as required.
