Valley Brook Country Club is looking to add a self-motivated and passionate irrigation technician in training to their maintenance team. Designed by James G. Harrison and Ferdinand Garbin, the club features a 27-hole golf course, championship size swimming pool, two outdoor platform tennis courts, and state of the art driving range and short game practice area.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The irrigation technician in training, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or lead irrigation technician, is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). The position is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or irrigation technician. The goal is for the position learn under our tenured team member for the next two seasons.
INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION:
Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
Repairs greens with seeds or plugs of new grass when needed.
Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod and seeds greens, tees and fairways.
Operates dump trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris.
Occasionally supervises a small labor force for special projects, and performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, APTITUDE AND TRAITS:
Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems.
Understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf.
Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area maintenance work.
Ability to operate light motorized equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
One to three years experience golf course maintenance or irrigation experience preferred, but willing to train with the right professional skill set, ambition and motivations.
Certificate, associates or bachelor's degree in turfgrass management from an accredited university preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour dependent on experience
