Job Summary: | This position is responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, and repair of the golf course irrigation system and components at the University Ridge Golf Course, including sprinkler heads, valves, piping, field controllers, fertigation pumps, pump station, and computer components. This position is responsible for keeping all irrigation components operational and at peak performance. Main duties include monitoring and adjusting sprinkler heads, scheduling and implementing preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting and repairing leaks and electrical issues, maintaining parts inventories, and keeping water use records. This position communicates regularly with supervisory staff to prioritize irrigation adjustment, maintenance, and repair based on specific goals and conditions. This position participates in equipment maintenance and snow removal in off season. |
Responsibilities: | Inspects, maintains, and repairs basic equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, and operational maintenance as needed. - 55% Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
- 10% Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
- 10% Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
- 10% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
- 15% Performs routine and non-routine golf course maintenance tasks such as mowing, watering, sodding, seeding, course setup, aerification and tournament preparation as needed.

Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications: At least one (1) year of experience in the irrigation field. Knowledge of repair, preventative maintenance, design, electronic components, and central controls for automated irrigation systems (pipes, valves, sprinklers, field controllers, etc.). Knowledge of basic golf course maintenance operations and techniques. Ability and willingness to assist with golf course tasks and operate equipment when necessary. Must pass background check. Hold a Wisconsin driver's license. Have basic keyboard and computing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: One or two years of vocational training in golf course maintenance. Previous experience as a golf course irrigation technician with high-level tournament experience. Familiarity with TDR moisture probes, Toro irrigation heads, and Lynx operating system. Strong capabilities in leadership, communication, problem solving skills, and attention to detail. Knowledge and interest in the game of golf. |
License/Certification: | Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards |
Work Schedule: | This position is a full-time 40 hours a week and it requires the incumbent to work a flexible schedule including numerous evenings, weekends and overtime, primarily during the golf season. |
