Provide training and oversight of maintenance mechanics.
Maintain, repair and replace plumbing and plumbing accessories, interior and exterior woodwork, dry wall partitions, and other surfaces, and building heating and cooling equipment, including maintenance and repair of pumps, pneumatic valves, air handlers, etc.
Provide daily supervision to custodial contractors or in-house custodial staff to ensure building sanitation and cleanliness and issue work orders for noted problems under their purview.
Monitor the operation of building elevators/lifts initiate trouble calls for problems and concerns.
Perform lighting and building condition inspections, and report the results in accordance with current Facilities policies and procedures.
Open assigned building(s) at the beginning of each shift.
Maintain and repair commercial appliances in assigned area, including, washers, dryers, and kitchen equipment.
Respond to requests for maintenance and repair services at off-campus sites when the assigned mechanic is not available.
Perform all plumbing, carpentry and electrical work in accordance with recommended practices in current technical manuals and in accordance with all applicable safety and building codes. Use personal protective equipment when necessary.
Maintain building heating and cooling equipment including maintenance and repair of VAV boxes, pumps, air handlers, etc, in assigned spaces.
Assemble, repair and move office furniture and equipment as requested in support of the Grounds department.
Coordinate with instructional course coordinators to maintain the correct number of chairs, tables, and desks in each classroom. Maintain all classroom furniture in good repair, and establish a consistency of design and style. Generate requests for replacement furniture.
Assist Grounds crew with snow removal and other major projects as assigned.
Establish a constant watch on all exterior, classroom, office, and common area lighting and replace bulbs and/or ballasts as they fail. Check exterior lighting timers and reset as necessary.
Accompany external contractors performing services in assigned areas to ensure quality of work, adherence to college policies and procedures and to enhance knowledge of area's systems and equipment.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. The incumbent is required to assist in meeting the operational needs of the College during emergencies and college closures, as well as, ensure continuity of strategic services.
Other duties as assigned by the Operational Supervisors, Assistant Director or Director.
High school diploma or equivalent and specialized training.
A minimum of seven years' experience in facilities maintenance. Demonstrated abilities in areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVACR skills required.
Successful completion of advanced training in HVACR, pneumatic valves, and refrigeration.
Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements:
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8-hour shift.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather condition, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions.
Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
Ability to utilize lifts, ladders and/or scaffolding to work at elevated heights.
Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record as determined by college policy
