Job Description
Rockwell Automation Solutions Business is looking for a Senior/Lead Controls Engineer to add to our Building Automation Process Delivery team, delivering solutions in the Life Sciences, Semi-Conductor and Food/Beverage industries. This position requires an individual with strong technical skills relating to the deployment of HVAC/Central Utilities/Building Automation solutions. This will include providing control system architectures, detailed design and documentation of hardware and software engineering, software programming and system start-up.
The individual should have expertise in automation controllers and programming (Rockwell Preferred, however, JCI/Honeywell/Siemens acceptable) and be able to design, document, and implement the controls for large scale building automation projects. The role will also have the responsibility of leading and delegating tasks for other engineering personnel contributing to the project team.

As the lead engineer, the individual will need to be able to assign tasks, monitor performance, and track ongoing efforts to hour usage on projects. (Teams typically range from 1 to 5 individuals depending on size of the project)

The individual will have a customer facing role during the project, providing project updates, coordination, and will participate in start-up assignments.

The individual will participate in the estimating and proposal process of projects to provide hours estimates and recommend instruments and controls methodologies.
Desired Location US Raleigh NC or Michigan area, however, other locations will be considered.
Essential Functions:

Participates in the design, implementation, test and startup phases of complex systems and projects.

Familiarity with ASHRE/Building Automation Controls best practices and common mechanical sequences.

Experience with Automation Controllers. Rockwell Controls programming and design preferred (Specifically Logix 5000 and related controllers), JCI/Honeywell/Siemens and related controllers (with expectation to learn Logix 5000) acceptable.

Familiarity with ASHRE Guidelines for Building Automation best practices and control sequences.

Provides a leading role in technical activities and will direct the activities of others assigned to customer projects. Take lead role in organizing, assigning, reviewing software development, direct functional specification development and planning for integrated customer witness testing.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technical related discipline.

Must have the ability to travel an average of about 25% of the time; however, travel can flex up to 50% a few times per year.

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of PLC/Automation Controller based Building Automation control systems

Must be able to work in a stressful environment with constructive feedback from others

Control System Architecture Design (Client Server); including Virtual Client Server design experience preferred.

Familiar with sizing of Valves and Sensors to align with the mechanical system requirements.

Experience with RA Products hardware and software product suites (ControlLogix, Logix 5000, FT View, FT Historian, FT AssetCentre, Thinmanager, and PlantPAx.)

Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP and other related Building Automation Networks.

Familiarity and experience with GAMP documentation and validation processes.

Experience using either FTHistorian, MS SQL Server or PI database systems.

Experience in Life Sciences and Semi-Conductor industries is preferred.
