Royal Poinciana Golf Club is looking for an Irrigation Technician/Assistant in Training to join our Green & Grounds Operation in beautiful Naples, Florida. We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who is either studying, or has their degree in Turf Management.

SUMMARY:  Responsible for the programming, operation, maintenance and repair of the golf course irrigation system. The Irrigation Technician is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality.  Requires knowledge of underground sprinkler systems. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but is not limited to the following:

• Adjusts/repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
• Waters greens, tees, fairways and all other irrigated turfgrass.
• Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
• Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
• Maintains irrigation pump stations. Maintains accurate records of water use.
• Occasionally supervises a small labor force for special projects and performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
• Installs new drip and sprinkler systems.
• Sets and maintains times on computer and electronic valve clocks; troubleshoots computerized electronic systems, irrigation controllers, solenoid valves, and heads of all types.
• May instruct others in minor irrigation repairs.
• Operates tractors and trenchers to install/repair lines.
• May assist in coordination with other departments or outside contractors.
• Performs other general grounds keeping and maintenance duties as needed and requested by supervisor.
• Follow all company and departmental policies and procedures in a strict manner and requires the same from the rest of the staff.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt, hourly position.  Hourly wage is competitive and based upon experience and skill set.  Hours vary based upon Member needs, which may occasionally include working days/nights/weekends/holidays shifts.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience:

• Two years of underground lawn sprinkler system repair and installation experience required; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
• Prior golf and country club experience preferred.
• Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
