High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Technical/vocational training related to job duties would be helpful. Previous experience as a fire alarm technician, sprinkler technician, technology systems specialist/technician would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Provides service and maintenance of an apprentice skill level on fire alarm and sprinkler systems across the University campus.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Assists with performing monthly, bi-annual, and annual National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code inspections. Maintains inspection and certification records, troubleshoots problems, and performs daily maintenance on all fire alarm and sprinkler systems. Assists with troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm panels, pull stations, smoke and heat detectors, pumps, valves, piping, and other associated equipment. Assists in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various fire alarm and sprinkler system components across the University. Performs other related duties as assigned.
